Annual Open Government Partnership meeting to be streamed at NUIM

Those in Maynooth and surrounding areas can now participate in the first annual meeting of the Open Government Partnership in Brasilia which starts tomorrow, Tuesday April 17th, via a live stream on NUIM’s campus.

Starting at 12pm in the Bio Sciences and Engineering Building on the Universities North Campus, local activists, public officials and students can watch and interact via social media with proceedings in Brazil where the 50+ member states will convene “to celebrate the tremendous progress that has been made to date, to exchange best practices, and to grow and strengthen the global collaborative network of open government leaders” according to a message from the OGP.

Launched in September 2011, the OGP is an international organisation promoting multilateral initiative and seeking strong commitments from participating government institutions to promote transparency, increase civic participation, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to make government more open, effective, and accountability.

For those attending planning to attend and interact with the event in NUIM, you can keep up to date with details here.
